Located in Essex, just 10 miles northeast of Chelmsford the town of Braintree is home to over 41,000 residents. However, it wasn’t always this up and coming and began life as a very small village situated on the River Brian.
Braintree is a town bursting with history, with a number of the roads coinciding with the names of people who fought for their home turf. One of the most notable is Aetheric Road, named after the Saxon noblemen who died in the Battle of Maldon.
The pretty town has lots of character with quaint old streets. The oldest part of the town is the Bocking End area where some buildings still have exposed wooden beams. You can also find the oldest medieval barns still standing in the UK.
However, it’s not just the buildings and the streets of Braintree that have a story to tell. Past residence include the 17th Century naturist John Ray and Richard Bradley who in 1701 became the first man in the UK to own a crocodile.
Today, the urban area is no longer home to any reptiles however, you will find a number of highly skilled and incredibly passionate tradesman.
From gas fitters in Great Notley and bathroom fitters in Bocking Churchstreet to double glazers in Duckend Green, find the local tradesmen you need in our Braintree directory.
