Situated in the county of Essex, just 30 miles out of London, Basildon was created in 1949 as one of eight ‘New Towns’ designed and built to ease the pressure of London’s housing wait list after the second World War.

In a bid to raise popularity of the ‘New Town’ the government offered grants to local companies in exchange for their businesses to be set up in Basildon.
