Situated in the county of Essex, just 30 miles out of London, Basildon was created in 1949 as one of eight ‘New Towns’ designed and built to ease the pressure of London’s housing wait list after the second World War.
In a bid to raise popularity of the ‘New Town’ the government offered grants to local companies in exchange for their businesses to be set up in Basildon. Amongst the companies which took up these grant were Carreras Tobacco (opened 1959, Ford Motors (opened 1964), Yardley of London (opened 1966) and Gordons Gin (opened 1984).
To this day it still has a heavily developed industrial base, known for its successful businessmen and they’re not short of professional tradesman either!
From painters in Billericay to plasterers in Wickford and carpet cleaners in Shotgate, you’ll find the right local tradesmen in our Basildon directory.
Need someone to deal with your woodwork? Get these local craftsmen in. Some construct and repair building frameworks, others install kitchen cabinets and drywall. It's all about finding the right tradesman for the job - and we've made it easy.
Specialist carpenters and joiners combine style with substance. They may carve ornate staircases or install your all-important window frames and doors. It's not as easy as these tradesmen make it look to measure, cut and shape wood to specification.
If you're remodelling your home, or after something smaller like a built-in-wardrobe to fill, dig out your blue prints, then give your local carpenter or joiner a call.
