Newcastle County Down is a thriving tourist town nestled between the Mountains of Mourne and the Irish Sea, with an award-winning promenade, the world famous Royal County Down Golf Course and the tallest mountain in Northern Ireland, Slieve Donard.
An anchor from the world’s first iron steamship is displayed on the seafront, harking back to when Newcastle’s harbour was a loading point for the famous Mourne Granite. The town’s economy was kick-started in 1892 when the railway was completed.

Originally called ‘Ballaghbeg Bealachbeg’ or ‘the little road’, Newcastle has undergone redevelopment recently, fuelled by tradesmen who cater to the 7400 residents’ needs.

From painters in Bryansford to roofers in Dundrum and electricians in the city centre, you’ll find the right tradesmen in our Newcastle County Down directory.
